Gilford-----Robert S. Gardner, 74, of 303 Old Lake Shore Road, died at the Pleasant View Center, Concord on Wednesday, April 19, 2006.
Mr. Gardner was born December 14, 1931 in Laconia, NH the son of Chester and Violet (Cooper) Gardner. He was raised in Laconia and graduated from Laconia High School in 1949. He lived in Montana for eight years.
Mr. Gardner served in the U. S Navy for six years. Following his service in the Navy, he married the former Priscilla Ann Cantin.
Mr. Gardner was President of the Gardner/Jewett Oil Co. in Laconia for several years and was a former inspector for the State of New Hampshire Gaming Commission in Concord. He was past president of the Laconia Lions Club; an instructor in the Hunter Safety Course and a member of the Winnipesaukee Ski Club.
While living in Montana, he was Chief of Police in Stevensville, Montana and was a County Judge in Darby, Montana. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Denis and Pamela Gardner of Concord, NH, Steven and Greta Gardner of Rye Beach, NH, Thomas & Jeanne Gardner of Laconia, NH and Robert & Denise Gardner of Lompoc, CA; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren and an aunt, Marie Tyler of Laconia, NH.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday April 25, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Cantin Family Plot in Union Cemetery, Academy Street, Laconia, NH.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society Gail Singer Memorial Building 360 State Rte 101 Suite 501 Bedford, NH 03310-5032.
