Gilford----Mrs. Ruth D. Gruenler, RN, 88. of 49 Schoolhouse Hill Road, Gilford died Saturday April 29, 2006 at the St. Francis Home, Laconia. She was the widow of Paul A. Gruenler who died in 1991.
Mrs. Gruenler was born July 4, 1917 in Derry, NH the daughter of John and Amy (Russell) Dalton. She had been a long time resident of the Lakes Region.
Mrs. Gruenler graduated from Pinkerton Academy, Derry and from the Laconia School of Nursing. She was a RN and had been employed at the St. Francis Home for many years, retiring in 1994. She was formerly employed at the Lakes Region General Hospital and the Laconia State School and Training Center.
Mrs. Gruenler was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church, Laconia. She enjoyed spending many summers at Wells Beach, Maine,
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John and Carlotta Gruenler of Tilton; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Edward Ancewicz of Alton; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by two brothers, Frederick “Dick” Dalton and Lawrence “Red” Dalton.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 5, 2006 from 6:00-9:00PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia.
A funeral service will be held at the St. James Episcopal Church, 876 North Main Street, Laconia on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at 2:00PM. The Rev. Hays M. Junkin, Priest-in-Charge will officiate. Burial will
follow in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Francis Healthcare Center Activities Fund, 406 Court Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
