Laconia-----I. David Grothey, 86, formerly of Gale Avenue and Church Street, died at the New Hampshire Veterans Home, Tilton, on Friday, August 13, 2004.
Mr. Grothey was born February 16, 1918 in Laconia, NH, the son of Ivan W. and Clara E. (May) Grothey.
Mr. Grothey served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He lived in Laconia most of his life and was employed at
Scott & Williams, Inc. for thirty-eight years, retiring in 1972. Mr. Grothey was a past president of the Laconia Country Club, a past president of the Quarter Century Club of Scott & Williams, a member of the Mt. Lebanon Lodge #32, F. & A. M. for over fifty years and a member of the Winnipesaukee Shrine Club and Bektash Temple A.A.O.N.M.S of Concord for over fifty years.
Survivors include a stepson, Jeffrey G. Shelton of North Carolina and several cousins in York, PA. He was predeceased by his first wife, Elva F. (Wiren)
Grothey, who died in 1969 and by his sister, Margaret Grothey, who died September 1, 2003.
According to Mr. Grothey's wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
Burial will be in the family lot at Union Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Springfield Unit (orthopaedic), 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
