Dr. Richard M. Hancock

Tilton-----Dr. Richard M. Hancock, 89, of 42 Hill Road, died at the Willow Manor Genesis Eldercare, Lowell, MA on Sunday, August 1, 2004.

Dr. Hancock was born May 1, 1915 in Franklin, MA, the son of Augustin D. and Ruth (King) Hancock. Dr. Hancock graduated from Texas A & M University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Hancock, Veterinarian, practiced for thirty-five years and was owner of the Acorn Animal Hospital in Franklin, MA. He was Veterinarian for Worcester County for Animal
Health and Disease Control under the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture. Dr. Hancock moved to Laconia, NH in 1981 and then moved to Tilton, NH in 1999. He was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church. He was an honorary member of the AVMA and the Excelsior Masonic Lodge A.F. & A. M. of Franklin, MA and was a member of the Laconia Country Club and the New Hampshire Senior Golf Association.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jean (Walker) Hancock, of Tilton, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Robert Storch of Troy, PA; six sons, Richard Hancock and his wife, Paula, of Tilton, NH; Randall Hancock and his wife, Margaret, of Meredith, NH; David Hancock and his wife, Colleen, of Chelmsford, MA; John Hancock of Watertown, MA; Scott Hancock and Joanne Cornetta both of Watertown, MA; Steven Hancock of Westport, MA; seven grandchildren, Jenny Storch, Maggie Storch, Jennica Hancock, Jaimon Hancock, Caitlin Hancock, Ryan Hancock, and Holly Hancock; one brother, D. Cap Hancock of Arizona; two sisters, Neva Crosby of Florida and Lucy Topham Smith of Vermont and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Robert Hancock, Clenric Hancock and Roy Hancock and by one sister, Daisy Hunt.

Memorial calling hours will be held on Friday, August 6, 2004 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2004 at 2:00PM at the Laconia Congregational Church, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, NH. Rev. David A. Travers, Interim Senior Pastor of the Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lakes Region General Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Fund, 80 Highland Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
