Mr. Anderson was born December 17, 1922 in Dorchester, MA, the son of the late Frederick C. and Ellen (Gibbons) Anderson. He lived in Arlington, MA, and attended the Arlington schools. He graduated from Boston College in 1944 with BS BA degree and he played in the BC band. While in college, he joined the Navy V12 program in 1942, completed college in an accelerated program and was sent to the University of Notre Dame, Indiana and to Columbia University in New York City where he received his commission. He was a Lieutenant in the U. S. Navy and he served in the Pacific Theater earning two bronze stars. He also received many medals including the Philippine Liberation medal and the Japanese Occupation medal. He served four years active duty and six years of inactive duty. He was released from the U. S. N. R. in 1952. Mr. Anderson lived in Stoneham, MA, and Manchester, Connecticut for several years before moving to Gilmanton, NH, eighteen years ago. He was an accountant with First National Supermarkets for thirty-nine years where he was head of the real estate accounting department. He was a former communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Stoneham, MA where he was a CCD teacher and usher. Mr. Anderson was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish in Belmont, NH. He was a member of Boston College Alumni Assoc, Boston College Band alumni, Order of the Golden Eagle, and a sixty-year member of the American Legion in Stoneham, MA & Wilkins-Smith Post No. 1 in Laconia, NH. He was also a long time member of the Laconia Elders Friendship Club. Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Frances (Sheehan) Anderson, of Gilmanton, NH; four sons and daughters-in-law, Frederick and Kathy Anderson of Campton, NH, Robert and Marjorie Anderson of Littleton, MA, James and Jane Anderson of Exton, PA, and John and Carol Anderson of Gilford, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Andrew Bushey, of Belmont, NH; eleven grandchildren; Robert Jr and wife Laurie Anderson, Katherine Anderson, Marie Anderson, Joseph Anderson, Christina Anderson, Michael Anderson, Thomas Anderson, Sarah Anderson, Dean Anderson, Andrew Bushey, Jr. and James Bushey one great grandchild; Emma Grace Anderson and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Anderson was predeceased by an infant son, Francis, and by a daughter, Ellen Anderson Collins in 1974, by a brother, Robert and by three sisters, Helen, Edith and Ruth. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 from 3:00 6:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Parish, 96 Main Street, Belmont, N.H. Rev. Joseph Nangle, O. F. M., Mr. Anderson's cousin, will be the celebrant. Family burial will be in the family lot in Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham, Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Franciscan Mission Services of North America, PO Box 29034, Washington, D.C. 20017.
