Laconia-----John C. Klier, 89, of 21 Ledges Drive died at Ledgeview, Taylor Community, on Saturday, August 4, 2007. He was the widower of Dorothy M. Vaughn who died in 2005.
Mr. Klier was born November 20, 1917 in Relay, Maryland, the daughter of John V. and Katherine (Mohr) Klier.
Mr. Klier graduated from Towson State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and from the University of Maryland with a Master’s Degree in Education. He was an industrial arts teacher in the Baltimore Public Schools for thirty-eight years. He retired in 1976.
Mr. Klier was a member of the Center Harbor Congregational Church, UCC and was an Elder in the Presbyterian and Congregational Churches.
Mr. Klier was a leader for the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed toy trains, house renovating for Habitat for Humanity and woodworking.
Survivors include a stepson, Dr. Bruce Packard of St. Michaels, Maryland; a sister, Katherine Klier, of Baltimore, Maryland; two grandchildren, Jennifer Okeson of Baltimore, Maryland and Andrew Packard of Danville, California and three great grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 10, 2007 at 10:00AM at the Center Harbor Congregational Church, U.C.C., 52 Main Street, Center Harbor, NH. Rev. Carol Snow-Asher, interim pastor of the Church, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Center Harbor Congregational Church, UCC, PO Box 229, Center Harbor, N.H. 03226 or Habitat for Humanity-Lakes Region, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, NH 03246.
