Robert E. Bordeau

Belmont-----Robert E. Bordeau, 82, of 20 School Street, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, after a brief illness, on Tuesday, December 3, 2002.

Mr. Bordeau was born September 8, 1920 in Laconia, NH, the son of Jason and Florence (Edgley) Bordeau.

Mr. Bordeau served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He lived in Laconia and Gilmanton for several years before moving to Belmont 45 years ago.

Mr. Bordeau served on the Town of Belmont School Board and the Town of Belmont Budget Committee. He was a member of the Belmont American Legion Post and a Life member of the Retired Firefighters. In 1949 he was one of the founders of the Lakes Region Mutual Aide.

Mr. Bordeau served as Fire Chief for the Town of Belmont from 1964-1984. He was a member of the Fire Department for 37 years, becoming a volunteer for the Department in 1946.

Mr. Bordeau was formerly employed at the Lund Ski Factory from 1937-1941 and at Scott & Williams from 1941-1944. Following his military service, he was employed at the Belmont Hosiery Mill and the Belmont Highway Department.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara (Bushey) Bordeau of Belmont and a resident of the Belknap County Nursing Home, Laconia; two sons, Carlton Bordeau of Laconia and James Bordeau of Belmont; a daughter, Patricia Kratzer of Laconia; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Hoag of Spring Hill, Florida and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Philip P. Bordeau, of Laconia.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 6, 2002 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Liturgy of The Word will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2002 at St. Joseph Parish, Belmont at 1:00PM.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2003 at 11:00 AM at the family lot at South Road Cemetery, Belmont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Belmont Fire Department, Firefighters Relief Association, PO Box 837, Belmont, NH 03220
