Laconia-----------Mrs. Lorena Miriam Young Cruger, 97, formerly of Old North Main Street, died at the Congregate Living Center at the Taylor Community on Tuesday, December 10, 2002. Mrs. Cruger was born July 3, 1905 in Waltham, MA, the daughter of Milton Ira and Alice May (Harvey) Young.
Mrs. Cruger graduated from Waltham High School in 1923 and also graduated from Miss Neils Private Normal of Boston, Mass. She taught Kindergarten at the Seth Bemis School on Orange Street in Waltham, MA, until her marriage to William F. Cruger of New York City on June 21, 1929. For thirty years, she worked for the Waltham Public Library, retiring in 1975.
Mrs. Cruger was a member of the First Parish Church in Waltham, MA. She was also a member of the Waltham Woman's Club and the Garden Club of the Woman's Club. In 1984 she moved to Laconia, NH where she had a summer home since 1976.
Survivors include two nephews, Richard H. Young of Florida and Lloyd M. Young of Worcester, MA; grandnieces and grandnephews; great grand nephews and great grand nieces; and several cousins, including, Berniece Andrews of North Eastern, MA and a long time friend, Barbara Adler Melone, of Weston, MA. She was predeceased by a brother, Harold L. Young and a nephew, Philip A. Young, who died in 1995.
According to Mrs. Cruger&Mac226;s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
Burial will be in the family lot in Mt. Feake Cemetery in Waltham, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to one's favorite charity.
