James "Jim" S. Farr

Gilmanton, NH-----James "Jim" S. Farr, 61, of Route 140, Gilmanton, NH died suddenly at his home on Sunday, December 26, 2004.

Mr. Farr was born September 3, 1943 in Barre,Vermont, the son of Sumner and Peggy M. (Murphy) Farr. He graduated from Richmond (VT) High School, attended Williams College, graduated from Castleton State College and received his Master's Degree in Education from Antioch New England University. He had recently retired after more than thirty-five years as a teacher, the last twenty-one at Gilford Middle-High School, Gilford as a dedicated teacher of science. Mr. Farr was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather.

Suvivors include his devoted wife of 38 years, Nancy (Ryer) Farr of Gilmanton, NH; his son, James S. F. Farr and daughter-in-law, Meagan Farr of Portland, ME; grandchildren, Samuel and Sydney; his mother, Peggy M. Farr and a brother, Sumner "Chuck" Farr, both of Richmond, VT; his sister, Katherine F. Towne of Valdosta, GA and nieces and nephews. Those of you that knew him well will honor and support his decision not to have calling hours or a funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the James S. Farr Memorial Science Scholarship Fund c/o Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation, PO Box 7312, Gilford, NH 03247-7312. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Gilford High School student who is entering the field of science.
