Laconia-----Karl W. Phelps, 64, of 26 Bois Circle, died at the Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida on Monday, December 11, 2006.

Mr. Phelps was born June 20, 1942 in Laconia, the son of Gilbert A and Virginia (Weston) Phelps.

Mr. Phelps was a resident of Laconia. He attended Laconia High School and graduated from Brewster Academy, Wolfeboro, in 1960. He owned and operated George A. Stevens Co. for twenty-four years, retiring in December, 2003. He spent the past three winters in beautiful Barefoot Bay, Florida or as he called it "paradise".

Survivors include his wife, Ann (Dockham) Phelps, of Laconia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karmen and Mark Gifford of Lakeport and Holly and Alan Summers of Concord; his mother Virginia Phelps of Laconia; five grandchildren, Corey and Craig McKeon, Cameron Gifford and Justin and Megan Summers; a brother and sister-in-law, Clinton and Winnie Phelps, of Laconia and Barefoot Bay, Florida; and his many nieces and nephews who adored "Uncle Karl".  He was predeceased by his father Gilbert A. Phelps in 2003.

Mr. Phelps will be remembered a true NH native. He was an automobile enthusiast which began in his father's Gulf gas station to collecting numerous antique cars and following Nascar racing. He spent many hours remodeling homes he owned through the years in Laconia, Gilford Village and Sandwich, NH

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Gilford Community Church, Potter Hill Road, Gilford, NH. Rev. Michael Graham, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.

A private family burial will be in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford, NH.
