Gilmanton Iron Works--Jerry R. Vayda, 25, of 1955 NH RT. 140, Gilmanton Iron Works, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Sunday, December 31, 2006.
Jerry was born May 5, 1981 in Natick, MA, the son of Bob and Dian (Moss) Vayda. He was a life long resident of Gilmanton Iron Works. He graduated from Gilford High School in 2000 and from UNH in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Biology. He was on the Chancellor’s List. He lived in Dover while he attended UNH.
Jerry was accepted to Medical School at UNE to begin in August of 2007. He was a certified Scuba Diver and a Seacoast Big Brother. He interned at Wentworth Douglas Hospital, Dover, Access Sports Medicine, Exeter and under Dr. Mark Henschke in Portsmouth.
Jerry had been studying to receive his pilot license thru Ossipee Valley Aviation. He loved skiing, snowmobiling, boating, billiards and darts. He had been restoring a 1969 Dodge Dart since Jr. High School.
Jerry’s dream was to have a small practice in Gilford as an Orthopedic Surgeon and build a large Southern Style home on Lake Winnipesaukee. He enjoyed every minute of life, loved his family and friends and lived to laugh.
Jerry partnered with his father and brother as a contractor with Vayda & Company.
Survivors include his parents of Gilmanton Iron Works, a brother. Shawn, and his wife, Christine Vayda. of Laconia; his fiancée, Katie Bamberger, of Conway; his maternal grandmother, Betty Moss, of OK; a nephew, Justin, and a niece, Kaylee, both of Laconia; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, January 4, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH using the Carriage House entrance.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Gary Kosmowski, pastor of the church, will be the celebrant.
