Madaline L. Decato

Gilford---Madaline L. Decato, 88, of 15 Wood Road, died Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia. She was the widow of Emile E. Decato who died in 2008. At the time of Mr. Decato’s death, they had been married for sixty-six years.
Madaline was born April 12, 1921 in Atkinson, ME, the daughter of John H. and Olive Ann (Albert) Dyer. She was a lifelong resident of the Lakes Region and had been employed at Winconia for 25 years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of The Lakes Church, Lakeport.
Madaline enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing and her true passion was her family and her vegetable and flower gardens. She hunted for many years, only giving it up just recently. She was a member of the Our Lady of the Lakes Ladies Guild and the Senior Bowling League.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen A. Cass and her husband, James, of Canterbury; 5 sons, Phillip E. Decato and his wife, Janet, of Woonsocket, R.I., Dennis J. Decato and his friend, Beverly Allis, of Belmont, Lloyd E. Decato of Gilford, Ernest W. Decato and his wife, Sheila, of Northfield and Stephen J. Decato and his wife, Annemarie, of Tilton; 22 grandchildren, James Litner of Franklin, Wendy Dyjak of Northwood, Phillip Decato of Plymouth, Paul Dauphin of Laconia, Lauri Decato of Center Harbor, John Decato of Loudon, Tracey Ornelas of Palm Bay, Florida, Peter Dauphin of Laconia; Pamela Gentile of Gilmanton, Shane Decato of Boscawen, Jamie Decato of Belmont, Jennifer Decato of Manchester, David Decato of Laconia, Christopher Decato of Northfield, Heather Decato of Tilton, Adam Decato of Belmont, Heath Decato of Woonsocket, R.I., Matthew Decato of W. V., Cory Decato of Concord, Joshua Decato of Manchester and Kayliegh Decato and Timothy Decato both of Belmont; twenty one great-grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; one sister Jenny Smith of Laconia and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by two sons, John D. Decato and Timothy J. Decato, a great grandson, Dylan Ornelas and by eleven brothers and sisters.
Calling hours will be held Friday, December 11, 2009 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia,
NH using the Carriage House entrance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lakes Church 50 Washington Street, Laconia, NH 03246 on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 10:00 AM.
Spring burial will be in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Hampshire Catholic Charities, Inc. 215 Myrtle Street Manchester, NH 03104.
