West Alton----Elwin C. "Al" Fortier, 70, of Rte 11, died at his home on Monday, February 3, 2003.
Mr. Fortier was born December 6, 1932 in Belmont, NH, the son of Camille and Iola (Edmunds) Fortier. He graduated from Belmont High School in 1951 and served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Al moved from Belmont to West Alton in 1966. He worked for the Coca Cola Food Service in Laconia for forty years, retiring in 1995. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends, gardening, and spending time with his family.
He was a member of the Congregational Church of Laconia and the Mount Lebanon Lodge #32 F. & A.M. of Laconia. Additionally he was a member of the West Alton Firemen, Inc. The Fortier family are also owners and operators of West Alton Marina.
Loved ones at his side included his wife of 37 years, Barbara A. (Clough) Fortier of West Alton, NH; Deirdre A. (Fortier) Tibbetts and Peter M. Tibbetts of Belmont, Brian A. Fortier and John E. Murray III, of West Alton, and Allyson R. Fortier, also of West Alton, In addition, Al leaves two grandchildren, Kyle and Kayla Tibbetts, both of Belmont; a brother, Donat Fortier and his wife, Claire also of Belmont, and several nephews and nieces.
At Mr. Fortier's request, there will be no calling hours.
A Graveside service will be in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia on Thursday, May 22, 2003 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations are made to Community Health and Hospice, Inc. 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH is in charge of the arrangements.
