Belmont-------Leander C. Constant, 86, of 40 Province Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Wednesday, February 28, 2007.
Mr. Constant was born May 17, 1920 in Meredith, NH, the son of Edmund and Fern C. (Baker) Constant.
Mr. Constant was raised in Laconia. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII from 1941 to 1945 in France and Germany. Upon his return from the service in 1945, he resided in Laconia until he moved to Belmont in 1985. Mr. Constant was employed at Laconia Malleable Iron for forty years, retiring in 1985. After he retired, Mr. Constant was employed at Fluffy Roast Beef in Tilton and also worked with his brother in landscaping.
Mr. Constant loved his family and animals. He enjoyed tinkering and yard work.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Ruth M. (Thompson) Constant of Belmont; a son, Scott MacKay, of Tilton; two daughters, Sandra F. Mynczywor and her husband, Tom, of Alton and Sherry L. Perkins and her significant other, Richard O’Connell, of Laconia; two grandsons, David Perkins of Gilford and Dan Perkins of Belmont; six great grandchildren; a brother, Herbert Constant, of Laconia and several nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Elmer Constant, in 2004.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2007 from Noon to 2:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A Funeral Service will follow the calling hour at 2:00PM also at the Funeral Home.
Spring burial will be in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s own choice.
