Belmont-----Arnold W. Manley, 85, of 311 Province Road, died at the Goldenview Health Care Center, Meredith, on Friday, February 9, 2007.
Mr. Manley was born July 12, 1921 in Rochester, NH, the son of Rollin and Alice M. (Austin) Manley.
Mr. Manley served in the U. S. Navy. He was a life long resident of the Lakes Region and was employed at Allen Rogers for forty-five years. At the time of his retirement in 1984, he was foreman of the Goodspeed Department.
Mr. Manley had a great appreciation for nature and was a real outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Mr. Manley loved his land and Belmont home and enjoyed doing lawn maintenance for many area residences over the years.
Mr. Manley was devoted to his family and was proud of his American Indian heritage.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela & James Morel of Gilford and Wendy and Paul Gagne of Newport, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Tara Morel-Taylor of Gilford, Aaron Morel of Laconia, Ryan Gagne of Tallahassee, Florida and Derek Gagne of Hilo, HI; Adam Gagne, of Newport, Tennessee; four great grandchildren, Ashley Morel, Ian Taylor, Morgan Taylor and Brayden Taylor all of Gilford. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of fifty-eight years, Alfreda A. (Wentworth) Manley, in 2005 and by six brothers, Russell Manley, Howard Manley, Raymond Manley, Harold Manley, James Collins and Paul Collins and by a sister, Thelma Farwell.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 11:00AM. Pastor James Morel, Mr. Manley’s son-in-law, will
officiate
Spring burial will be in the family lot in Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Covenant Christian Church, Benevolence or Building Fund, 708 Union Avenue, Laconia, NH 03246.
