Lewis A. Aldrich

Laconia-----Lewis A. Aldrich, 78, of 181 Franklin St., Lakeport died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Sunday, February 21, 2010.
Lew was born November 26, 1931 in Laconia, N.H., the son of Lewis N. and Marguerite (Elliott) Aldrich. He was a lifelong resident of the Lakes Region and was a graduate of Laconia High School and the University of New Hampshire. He was a CPA and was owner of Lewis A. Aldrich, CPA.  He was a member of the N.H. Society of CPA’s and the American Institute of CPAs.  In 1990, he received the SVA Small Business Accountant Advocate of the Year for NH.
Lew was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church and sang in the choir for many years.
Lew served as treasurer for many organizations including the Town of Gilford, Gilford School District, Laconia YMCA, the Laconia Congregational Church and the New Hampshire Music Festival; had been a director of Lakes Region Mental Health Clinic and the  Laconia Kiwanis; a member of the Laconia Salvation Army Advisory Board and a Corporator of the Laconia Savings Bank.   In 1987, he was recipient of the Fifth Annual Award for Distinguished Service for the N. H. Music Festival.
His hobbies and interests included music, singing, bowling, traveling, reading, and spectator sports. He especially liked his vacation every summer to the Jersey shore and the get-together with Nancy's three brothers, two sisters and their families.
Lew is survived by his wife, Nancy (Romberger) Aldrich, of Lakeport; four children, Norman P. Aldrich and Kathleen of Gilford, Peter A. Aldrich and Heidi of Spanaway, Wash., Debra L. Harvey and  Michael of Gilford and Vicki Van Sant of  Somerville, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Kelli, Sarah, Jennifer, Tyler, Christina, Nikki and Sean; a sister, Eleanor A. Vittum and brother-in-law Kenneth, of  Ellsworth, Maine; nephews and nieces.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Richard E. Aldrich.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 2:00PM at the Laconia Congregational Church, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, N.H.  Rev. Dr. Warren H. Bouton, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.
Spring burial will be in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Eldercare Unit of the Lakes Region General Hospital, 80 Highland Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246.
