Sheila J. (Metivier) Emanuel

Laconia----- Sheila J. (Metivier) Emanuel, of 78 McGrath Street died after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, niece, cousin, aunt and friend, Sheila passed away at the Hospice House in Concord on Thursday, February 18, 2010. She was surrounded by her entire loving family. She was 48 years old.

Sheila was born in Berlin, NH the daughter of Sylvia Metivier Stevens and the late Clark S. Metivier. She resided in Laconia most of her life. She was a 1979 graduate of Laconia High School and a 1983 graduate of UNH, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.

The greatest love of Sheila’s life was her family. She leaves behind two children, Adam and Andrew Emanuel, her husband Peter Emanuel, her mother Sylvia Metivier Stevens and Step-father John Stevens. She also leaves behind her brother Stephen Metivier and his wife Wendy of Belmont, NH and her sister Andrea O’Neil and her husband Patrick of Auburn, NH, as well as nieces Amanda Metivier, Katie Metivier, Kathryn O’Neil, Samantha Bartlett and Jessica Emanuel, and one nephew Jason Metivier. Sheila was predeceased by her father Clark Metivier and her infant son Shawn Emanuel.

Sheila enjoyed working as Office Manager for the family business as well as making puzzles, reading, watching NASCAR races and spending time on the Coast of Maine.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Sheila on Friday, February 26 at 10:30AM at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia, NH. Please join family and friends in a “Celebration of Sheila’s Life” at the Belknap Mill, 25 Beacon St. East., Laconia following the service.

Because of the wonderful care she received, in lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Community Health and Hospice, 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
