Raymond E. Simoneau

Laconia-----Raymond E. Simoneau, 85, of 21 Stephen St., died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Monday, February 2, 2009.

Mr. Simoneau was born August 8, 1923 in Laconia, N.H., the son of Donat and Lucille (Spenard) Simoneau. He was a lifelong resident of Laconia and was employed at Cormier Hosiery Mills for forty-one years, retiring in 1987.

Mr. Simoneau served in the U. S. Navy throughout all of WWII. He was stationed aboard the USS Washington, USS Wyoming and the USS St. Paul.

Mr. Simoneau was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.

Mr. Simoneau was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Laconia Post #1670 and a lifelong member of the B.P.O.E. Laconia Lodge #876. He was a handyman and enjoyed building and fixing things for his family.

In fact, Mr. Simoneau’s life was his family. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris A. (Cormier) Simoneau, of Laconia; a son, Paul Simoneau, and his wife, Nancy, of Gilford; three daughters, Claudette Kabachis of Laconia, Carol Houle and her husband, Richard, of Northfield and Janet Goulette and her husband, Thomas, of Belmont; eight grandchildren, Marcie Kabachis, Scott Goulette, Kyle Kabachis, Eric Goulette, Adam Simoneau, Lacey Simoneau, Ethan Simoneau and Alex Simoneau; a son-in-law, Buz Kabachis, of Laconia; two sisters, Cecile Bolduc of Belmont and Claire DeRoy of Tilton, and several nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simoneau was predeceased by two sisters, Rita Fortier and Rachel Giguere, by a brother, Maurice Simoneau, and by a grandson, Jim Goulette.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2009 from 2:00-4:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 10:00AM at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia by Rev. Adrien Longchamps, Pastor of the Church.

Spring burial will be in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, N.H. 03246.
