George L. Smith

Belmont-----George L. Smith, 78, of 54 Randlett Street, died at his home on Sunday, February 1, 2004.

Mr. Smith was born January 7, 1926 in Belmont, NH, the son of Leslie T. and Marguerite (Fogg) Smith. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War and World War II and was a member of the Belmont American Legion Post #48.

Mr. Smith was a life long resident of Belmont and was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church. He was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Church.

Mr. Smith was Plant Manager at Cormier Hosiery for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Louise F. (Emery) Smith, of Belmont, NH; a son, George L. Smith, Jr. of Drexel, N.C.; a daughter, Melonie Faye Frances of Belmont, NH; a granddaughter, April Brown, of Belmont, NH; one brother, Arthur J. Smith, of Hampton, NH; and three sisters, Marguerite Marston of Donna, TX, Shirley Maxfield of Loudon, NH and Mary Maxfield, of Zephyr Hills, FlA and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Nathan Smith.

There will be no calling hours.

A Graveside Service will be held in the spring at the family lot in South Road Cemetery, Belmont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Belmont Fire Department, PO Box 837, Belmont, NH 03220.
