Gilford----Mrs. Sophie A. Beattie, 85, of Gilford, died at the Goldenview Health Care Center, Meredith on Tuesday, February 10, 2004.
Mrs. Beattie was born October 7, 1918 in Lowell, MA the daughter of Anthony & Anna Wojcik.
Mrs. Beattie was raised in Lowell and in 1943 she moved to the Lakes Region. She was employed in the Marketing Department of J. Jill for a number of years, retiring in October 2002.
Mrs. Beattie is survived by a daughter, Gail A. Engle of Gilford; a sister, Jane McHale of Arlington, VA. and by a niece. She was predeceased by a son, Donald R. Beattie in 1983.
There will be no calling hours.
A private graveside service will be held in the spring at the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247 or to a charity of one&Mac226;s choice.
