Betty A. Champagne

Belmont------Mrs. Betty A. Champagne, 69, of 116 Lamprey Road, died at her home on Monday, February 2, 2004. Mrs. Champagne was the widow of Rene F. Champagne who died in 1996.

Mrs. Champagne was born January 21, 1935 in Laconia, NH, the daughter of Guy B. & Blanche G. (Hawkins) Huckins and was a life long resident of the Lakes Region. Mrs. Champagne was employed at the Laconia State School & Training Center for seventeen years. She was a member of the Gunstock Travel Club and volunteered with Boy Scout Troop #65 in Belmont for many years. She enjoyed crafts.

Survivors include her daughter, Lillian "Dee" Jackes and her husband, Stephen, of Belmont, NH; three grandchildren, Brian Jackes, Dennis Jackes and Katie Jackes all of Belmont, NH; her companion of many years, Glen Hyslop of Ossipee, NH; a brother, David Huckins, of Tilton, NH; four sisters, Ruth Johnson of Easley, S. C., Mary Thompson, Phyllis Havey and Barbara Cooper all of Franklin, NH and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by eight brothers.

Memorial Calling Hours will be held on Friday, February 6, 2004 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH

A Graveside Service will be held in the spring at the family lot in South Road Cemetery, Belmont, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701
