Gilford-------Atty. Samuel L. Sargent, 81, of 20 Mitchell Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Friday, January 10, 2003.
Atty. Sargent was born January 12, 1921 in Laconia, NH, the son of Bartholomew E. and Dorilda M. (Pettigrew) Sargent.
Atty. Sargent served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was an attorney in the Lakes Region from 1952 -1989. He was a member of the Planning Board of Zoning for the Town of Gilford; a long time member of the Board of Directors of the Bayside Cemetery Association; a member of the AWA Radio Wireless Club of New York and was a certified Scuba Diver. He was also an amateur radio operator with the call sign WB1GNA and a member of the Dull Man's Club.
Survivors include his wife, Helen (Doucet) Sargent of Gilford; one son, Robert L. Sargent, of Chelmsford, Massachusetts; three daughters, Simone Maglio and Louise Sargent both of Gilford, NH and Denise Sargent, Lake Worth, Florida; and 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Maglio, Eric Maglio, Elizabeth Maglio, all of Gilford, NH; Gregory Sargent and Nicholas Sargent both of Chelmsford, MA; 2 cousins Viana LaPierre and Gary LaPierre both of Gilford. He was predeceased by his half-sister, Dorothy E. Mitchell, who died in 1992.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral Service will be held at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at 11:00 AM.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, NH
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heritage Freewill Baptist Church, 360 Union Avenue, Laconia, NH 03246.
