Belmont----Edward Byron Briggs, 62, of 14 Scenic Dr., died Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia after a sudden illness.
Mr. Briggs was born December 11, 1941 in Fall River, MA, the son of Dexter T. and Vera B. (DeMaranville) Briggs. He grew up in Asconet, MA and Sayville, Long Island, New York.
Mr. Briggs served in the U. S. Air Force SAC 509 Air Group from 1961-1965 and was a technician at Grumman Aerospace for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1992. In 1994, he moved from Ridge, Long Island, New York to Belmont, NH and was employed at Lakes Region Manufacturing.
Mr. Briggs was an active member of the Northfield-Tilton Congregational Church, Tilton and served as Usher. He was a Johnny Cash fan and loved trains and racing.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Cheryl Ann (Wiggin) Briggs of Belmont, NH; two sons, Brian E. Briggs of New York and Darin E. Briggs and his wife, Deirdre, of Northfield, NH; a sister, Muriel E. Wachlin of California and many nephews and nieces and in-laws.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 2:00 PM at the Northfield-Tilton Congregational Church, 283 Main Street, Tilton, NH. The Rev. Dr. Lori Wiley will officiate.
Spring burial will be held in the family lot at St. Martin's Cemetery, Somersworth, NH.
