Laconia-----Mr. William J. Rollins, 76, formerly of 257 Elm Street, Lakeport, died at the Belknap County Nursing Home on Friday, January 9, 2004. Mr. Rollins was the widower of Madeline (Martel) Rollins who died in 1988.
Mr. Rollins was born September 16, 1927, in Tilton, NH, the son of William A. and Olive (Twombly) Rollins and graduated from Tilton-Northfield High School in 1945. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII.
In 1949, Mr. Rollins moved to Laconia and worked for the New England Telephone Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1989.
Mr. Rollins was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William G. and Denise Rollins of Belmont, NH and Daniel J. and Tara Rollins of Salt Lake, Utah; two daughters and sons-in-law Mary E. and Christopher VanderNoot and Renee and Travis Haynes all of Laconia; six grandchildren, Curtis Rollins and Jesse Rollins both of Belmont, Christine Rollins, Parker VanderNoot, Natalie VanderNoot and Cameron Haynes all of Laconia; two sisters, Marguerite Tart of Laconia and June Tilton of Tilton, NH; and many nephews and nieces.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 15, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington Street, Lakeport, NH.
Spring burial will be in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720.
