Laconia------Shirley J. Murgatroy, 62, of 204 Messer Street, died at the Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, on Sunday, January 16, 2005.
Mrs. Murgatroy was born June 14, 1942 in Laconia, NH, the daughter of Michael and Sophie ( Rudzinski) Roubo and was a lifetime resident of Laconia Mrs. Murgatroy graduated from Mt. St. Mary's in Nashua, NH in 1959 and attended Hesser College. She was a groundskeeper at Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, for namy years, retiring in 2002. Mrs. Murgatroy was a communicant of St. Joseph Church.
She was a member and past president of the St. Joseph Ladies' Guild and was a member and Past Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America Court #110. She was also was a member of the Laconia Emblem Club. Mrs. Murgatroy enjoyed Sunday car rides, fishing, ice fishing, knitting. She was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching soap operas.
Survivors include her husband, James R. Murgatroy, Sr. of Laconia; two sons, Joseph Murgatroy of Laconia, NH and Jack Murgatroy of Belmont, NH; two daughters, Jane Harmon and Judy Daigneault both of Gilford, NH; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a nephew, Michael Roubo, of Meredith, NH. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, James R. Murgatroy, Jr. in 2001 and by two brothers, Joe Roubo and Michael Roubo.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, NH on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the church will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in the family lot in St. Lambert Cemetery, Laconia at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to one's own favorite charity.
