Belmont-----Hyman Steiman, 89, of Bean Hill Road, passed away at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH on Thursday, January 20, 2005. He was the widower of Beatrice A. (Archambeault) Steiman who died in 1996.
Mr. Steiman was born April 19, 1915 in Worcester, MA, the son of Philip and Ida (Bushkin) Steiman, one of twelve children. He lived most of his life in Worcester and retired in 1977. He moved to Belmont, NH twenty-eight years ago.
Young beyond his years, he was an active fisherman and gardener. Not a leaf could survive his grasp nor a snowflake adorn his driveway. He told the corniest jokes but "we" loved to hear them. He enjoyed square dancing, travel, crossword puzzles and cards. His smile would light up a room. His favorite good-bye line was a pat on the back and the words "it's good to see ya back again."
Mr. Steiman served the Town of Belmont in the Conservation Department and the Health Department.
Mr. Steiman was a member of Temple B'Nai Israel, Laconia, NH. He was a former member of the Temple Emanuel Brotherhood, the Knights of Phythias, the Loyal Order of Moose and the Boy Scouts of America.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Steiman and Philip Steiman; two daughters, Deanne Steiman and Judy G.Thomson; five grandchildren, Dawn Mayo, Lori Littenburg, Robert Steiman, Jill Steiman and Melissa Steiman and three great grandchildren, Naomi, Jesse and Aidan. His family, many friends and his cat, Blue, will miss him.
There will be no calling hours. A Funeral Service will be held in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia on Sunday, January 23, 2005 at 10:00AM.
Spring burial will be in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia, NH
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246 or the Belmont Senior Center, 14 Mill Street, Belmont, NH 03220.
