Belmont-------Arthur J. Horan, 78, of 5 Farraville Road, Belmont, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Friday evening January 7, 2005 with his family by his side.
Mr. Horan was born January 16, 1926 in Greenfield, MA the son of James and Laura (Clifford) Horan. Mr. Horan served in the US Navy during WWII.
Mr. Horan was formerly employed by Chertoks Furniture, Lund Ski Factory and Oak Laminates. He also owned and operated Horan?s TV Service for many years.
Mr. Horan was a Selectman for the Town of Belmont in the early 1990's. He also served on the Belmont Recreation Committee and a number of other Town committees.
Mr. Horan enjoyed his gardening and spent more then 20 years building the stone walls at the corner of Rte 106 and Farrarville Road in Belmont.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law Edward J. and Kim M. Horan of Belmont, NH; a daughter and son-in-law Carol and Mark Jesseman of Gilmanton, NH; a half-brother John Horan of Center Barnstead, NH; a half-sister Dorothy Landon of South Portland, ME; 4 grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years Evelyn N. (Clifford) Horan on November 6, 2004 and a son Arthur Horan in 1994.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service for Arthur and Evelyn will be held in the family lot in Smith Meeting House Cemetery, Gilmanton, NH in the spring.
