Roy "Butch" J. Gilbert

NORTHFIELD - Roy "Butch" J. Gilbert, 76, of 34 Shaker Road died at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010.

Mr. Gilbert was the widower of Marion I. (Stanton) Gilbert who died in 1994.

Mr. Gilbert was born March 8, 1933, in Tilton, the son of Alfred and Amanda (Bernard) Gilbert.

He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was a lifelong resident of Northfield and had been employed at Weeks Dairy for 40 years, retiring in 1995.

Mr. Gilbert was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with recent trips to China and Australia.

Survivors include a son, Kevin Gilbert and his wife, Lauri, of Clancy, Mont.; three daughters, Coryleen Gilbert of Northfield, Jo-Ellen Hanson and her husband, Stephen, of Salisbury and Royann Bossidy of Boscawen; seven grandchildren, Kate Chase, Nicholas Hanson, Nathan Hanson, Shannon Bossidy, Dylan Bossidy, Hunter Gilbert and Isabel Gilbert; two great-grandchildren, Simon Chase and Abigail Chase; a sister, Rhoda Allard of Northfield; and numerous nephews and nieces.

In addition to his wife and his parents, he was predeceased by 11 siblings, Leonard Gilbert, Florence Carreau, Veronica Gilbert, Goodreau Gilbert, Willard Gilbert, Russell Gilbert, Roger Gilbert, Theodore Gilbert, Robert Gilbert, Donald Gilbert and Grace Fredette.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, Jan. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church, Tilton.

Spring burial will be in the family lot in St. John's Cemetery, Tilton.

Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, is in charge of the arrangements.
