George M. Lallas Canterbury-----George M. Lallas, 72, of 35 Baptist Road, died at his home on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Mr. Lallas was born July 2, 1937 in Cambridge, Mass., the son of Margery (Flynn) and George M. Lallas, Sr. Mr. Lallas served in the U. S. Army. He attended Boston University and graduated from the Boston Museum School. Originally from Lowell, MA he lived in Laconia for twenty years before moving to Canterbury, NH three years ago. He was self-employed as a commercial artist for over fifty years. In 1962, he created the character, “Punchy”, which appeared on the Hawaiian Punch label and on television. Mr. Lallas had a great sense of humor which endeared him to everyone; he was a deeply spiritual person and considered his true treasure to be his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of thirty eight years, Pamela (Hewins) Lallas, of Canterbury; a stepson, Roger Kuketz, Jr., and his wife Pamela, of Worcester, Mass.; three step daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Michael Alconada of Tauton, Mass., Elaine and Stephen Pierce of Barrington, N.H. and Karen and Russell Hall of Rutland, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Jake and Brad Alconada, Courtney and Ryan Kuketz, Seles Pierce, and Kaitlyn, Allyson and Matt Hall; a brother, William R. Lallas, of Manchester, N.H; a sister, Margery B. Morrill, of Sarasota, Florida; two nieces and four nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 from 2:00-4:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H. There will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, N.H. 03247.
