Gilford, NH-----A. Virginia Batchelder, 80, of 113 Belknap Point Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, on Thursday, July 22, 2004.
Mrs. Batchelder was born July 4, 1924 in Bradford, Vermont, the daughter of Wilma (Butterfield) and John F. Eaton. Mrs. Batchelder was a graduate of Bradford Academy and the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School, Boston, MA.
She also attended the University of New Hampshire and obtained her real estate broker?s license. Mrs. Batchelder had been a resident of Gilford, NH for forty-four years. Along with her husband, Bob, they developed and co-owned, for over twenty-five years, the Belknap Point Motel on Lake Winnipesaukee in Gilford. They were recipients of the first four diamond AAA rating in the State of New Hampshire and received several Better Business Bureau awards. She also owned Belknap Point Real Estate. Once she and her husband retired, they wintered in Port Charlotte, Florida where they had a home for twenty years.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Robert Batchelder, of Gilford, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Marcella and John Stanton of Duxbury, MA; one sister, Rosalie Wakefield of Constantia, NY; two brothers, Fred Eaton of Villa Park, Illinois and Al Eaton of Destin, Florida and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her stepfather, Elbridge Grennell; two sisters, Georgia Sweet of East Corinth, VT, Janice Taft of Shelburne, VT and a brother, Howard Eaton of Bradford, VT. Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2004 from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2004 at 11:00AM also at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the family lot in Upper Plain Cemetery, Bradford, Vermont.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association, NH Chapter, 10 Ferry Street, Suite 427B, Concord, NH 03301. Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH is in charge of the arrangements.
