Gilford-----Mrs. Lillian F. Beckley, 97, formerly of Scenic Drive, Gilford, died at the Belair Nursing Home, Goffstown on Friday, July 9, 2004. She was the widow of Lewis F. Beckley who died in 1964.
Mrs. Beckley was born September 11, 1906 in Mitchell, S. Dakota, the daughter of Harvey G. and Maude (Rassmussen) Jamison. In 1931 she moved to CT from South Dakota and taught 5 years in Madison, CT. She moved to Gilmanton Iron Works with her husband and lived there from 1948 to 1962. She later moved to the Laconia/Gilford area in 1962.
Mrs. Beckley was an elementary school teacher. She taught two years in New Durham, NH and five years in Belmont, NH. From 1956-1973, she taught in the Laconia School District and retired in 1973. Mrs. Beckley was a member of the United Baptist Church in Lakeport and was a member of the Ready for Service Club. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association of New Hampshire and the Lakes Region and also the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 41 in South Dakota. Survivors include a son, Bruce H. Beckley, of Dunbarton, NH; a daughter, Janice L. Hinman, of Jackson Heights, New York: five grandchildren; six great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband in 1964 and a sister, Iva Holgate.
Calling Hours will be held on Monday July 12, 2004 from 1:00PM-3:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A Funeral Service will follow the Calling Hours at 3:00PM also at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in the family lot in Smith Meeting House Cemetery, Gilmanton Iron Works, NH.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association, NH Chapter, 10 Ferry Street Suite 427B Concord, NH 03301 or to the New Hampshire Association for the Blind, McGreal Sight Center, 25 Walker St., Concord, NH 03301-9977.
