Gerald M. Clough

Redstone, NH - Gerald M. Clough, 80 yrs. old, of 47 Greenstone St., Redstone, NH, 03813, died at his son’s home in Gilford, July 4, 2004. 

Born in Haverhill, MA June 3, 1924, he was the son of Forest and Lois (Woodman) Clough. Mr. Clough attended high school in Haverhill before entering the Army Air Corp in 1943. He was a member of the 78th Troop Carrier Squadron and served in France, Germany and Central Europe during World War II. 

After the War, Mr. Clough started his work career by purchasing the Mountain View House in North Conway, N.H. and was appointed Chief of Police of the Conway Police Department in 1948. Mr. Clough began working for Public Service Company of New Hampshire in 1958 and retired as Office Manager of the Franklin office in 1985. 

Mr. Clough was a volunteer Fireman for over 60 years, being a member of the Conway, Gilford, Hill and Redstone Fire Departments. He was the first Chief of the Redstone Fire Department and he was a Commissioner in that Department at the time of his death. 

Mr. Clough was active in various youth oriented organizations, including the Boy Scouts, Sea Scouts and Youth Baseball. 

Family members include Dorothy (Scott) Clough of Redstone, his wife of 56 years, three sons and their wife’s, Jay and Polly Clough of Gilford, NH, John and Susan Clough of Gilmanton, NH, and James and Amy Clough of Allen, Texas and a daughter, Cathy Clough of Parsonfield, Maine. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and a sister Lois Anthony of Plaistow, NH. 

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the First Church of Christ Congregational Church, Main St.,  North Conway, NH on Sunday, July 11, 2004, at 2 pm. A reception will follow at the Church.
