Gilford-----Mrs. Jessie Downs Kirk, 91, of 35 Liscomb Circle, died at the Genesis Eldercare Network - Laconia Center, on Tuesday, July 27, 2004. Mrs. Kirk was the widow of John R. Kirk who died December 28, 1986.
Mrs. Kirk was born October 9, 1912 in Bon Accord, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (McDonald) MacPhail. She moved to New Hampshire and resided in West Alton for several years before moving to Gilford in 1960. She was employed by the Laconia School District for several years where she was a cook at the Woodland Heights School. Mrs. Kirk was a member of the First United Methodist
Church.
Survivors include four sons, Duncan A. Kirk, of Sarasota, Florida, J. David Kirk of Laconia, NH, Peter Kirk of Gilford, NH and Michael R. Kirk of Franklin, NH; many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. In addition of her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Arthur Kirk; a sister, Ruth MacPhail, and two brothers, Duncan MacPhail and Robert MacPhail.
There will be no calling hours.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2004 at 11:00AM at the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford, NH. Rev. Dr. Victoria Wood Parrish, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, PO Box 7408, Gilford, NH 03247-7408.
