Virginia (Bellew) Nicholas

Bristol----Mrs. Virginia (Bellew) Nicholas, 76, of Bristol, passed away at the St. Francis Health Center in Laconia on Sunday, July 4, 2004, after a long illness.

Virginia was born September 1, 1927 in Cambridge, MA, the daughter of Alphonse E. and Rae G. (Ussher) Bellew. After retiring from the Telephone Company in Chicago, Illinois, she and her husband, Don, relocated to Bristol, NH in 1962. She retired after twenty-five years as a Vice-President from the Bank of New Hampshire. Upon retirement, she enjoyed traveling and visiting many of her friends throughout the country, including realizing a life-long dream of a cross country trip to Alaska. An ardent Republican, Virginia possessed a sharp wit and vocabulary. She loved the outdoor-life and hunted along with her husband for many years. Virginia had been a communicant of St. Timothy's Parish since moving to New Hampshire. She was very active in various committees of including, St. Timothy's Women's Club, the CCD Committee, the Parish Board and was the Church delegate for community services.

She was the beloved wife of Donald B. "Nick" Nicholas who died in 2000. She leaves, to cherish her memory, her loving sister and brother-in-law, Mary E. and Thomas Swan of S. Weymouth, MA along with 19 nieces and nephews and 46 grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her father, Alphonse E. Bellew and her mother, Rae G. Bellew-Cole; by two brothers, Charles W. Bellew and T. Walter Bellew and a sister, Ellen A. Carlson.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 9, 2004, from 4:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 10, 2004 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Grace Chapel at the Lake, Corner of Rte 3A and West Shore Road, Bristol, NH. Burial will follow in the family lot in Homeland Cemetery, Bristol, NH, where she will be re-united with her dearly beloved, late husband.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Timothy's Church, PO Box 37, Bristol, NH 03222.
