Joseph Roger Landry

Tampa, Florida------Joseph Roger Landry, 78, of 6502 West Shore Circle, died at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH, on July 31, 2005

Mr. Landry was born July 24, 1927 in Laconia, NH, the son of Alfred and Aurora (DeLisle) Landry. He was raised in Laconia and in 1944 he enlisted in U. S. Navy, serving for two years. Mr. Landry was a member of the Army National Guard for thirty-two years and retired as Command Sgt. Major in 1984.

After returning to New Hampshire he worked for Arthur Sewell and Scott & Williams. In 1963 he moved his family to California where he worked for Sears & Roebuck. Upon returning to Laconia in 1975, he owned Landry’s Appliance House for several years. Later he returned to work for Sears & Roebuck, retiring in 1990.

He was a member and past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Laconia Post #1670; a member and past Exalted Ruler of the Laconia Lodge of Elks No 876; a member and past Commander of the American Legion, Wilkins-Smith Post No. 1.

Mr. Landry was also an active member of the S.M.A.R.T. Group, Florida Buccaneers Chapter. Throughout his life he was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and was proud of his donation of over 30 gallons.

Survivors include his wife, Waltraud “Judy” (Fellner) Landry, of Tampa, Florida; three sons, Richard Landry of Belmont, NH, Jay Landry of Lancaster, NH and Joseph Landry, Jr. of Belmont, NH; four daughters, Cindy Santy and her fiancé, Bill Nutter, both of Gilford, NH, Debra Landry of Laconia, NH, Donna Cadrette and her husband, Roland, of Laconia, NH, Tina Levasseur and her husband, Roger, of Laconia, NH; two stepsons, Leroy Quattlebaum and his wife, Linda, of Plant City, Florida, Kenneth Quattlebaum and his wife, Jackie, of Washington, D.C.; three stepdaughters, Sharon Williams and her husband, John, of Belleair Bluffs, Florida, Victoria Strauss and her husband, Martin of Austria and JoAnn Ream and her husband, Clark, of Newton, New Jersey; ten grandchildren, Kristie Santy of Belmont, Michelle Santy of Sanbornton, Steven Santy of Gilford, Donald Bossey of Florida, Dustin Bossey of Laconia, Cortney Landry of Lancaster and Nicole Levasseur, Justin Landry, Caitlyn Landry and Emmie Landry all of Laconia; eleven step grandchildren; a great granddaughter, Brianna Baker, of Belmont and two step great grandchildren; a sister, Irene Broderman of Clearwater, Florida and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jacqueline (Houle) Landry, in 1997 and by his brother, Joseph Raymond Landry.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2005 from 2:00-4:00PM and from 7:00PM-9:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at 10:00AM at the Laconia Congregational Church, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, NH. Rev. Dr. Warren H. Bouton, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
