Laconia-----Eveline E. Lemay, 77, of 26 Timber Lane died at the Concord Hospital on Sunday, July 10, 2005. Mrs. Lemay was born September 19, 1927 in Laconia, NH, the daughter of Arthur J. and Emma (Breton) Lessard. She was a life long resident of Laconia and graduated from Laconia High School in 1945. After her semi-retirement, she wintered in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Mrs. Lemay was a well-known Lakes Region business woman. She founded and operated Eveline’s School of Dance for over thirty years during which time she touched thousands of local people. She had been affiliated with the restaurant and hospitality industry for more than fifty years. She joined her first husband, Mario Contigiani, in his family business, the Winnisquam House in the early 1950’s. Later she operated Loch Haven Inn and several other Lakes Region establishments and managed various real estate holdings. In her semi-retirement, Mrs. Lemay operated a family business, Lemay’s Realty, in conjunction with her husband, Maurice Lemay.
Survivors include her husband, Maurice Lemay, of Laconia; a daughter and son-in-law, Nina M. Laflamme and Joseph Turner, both of Gilford; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles G. and Ann Marie Contigiani, both of Laconia; stepchildren, Laureen and Greg Lemay, of Gilford and Gay and David Beck of American Fork, Utah; two grandchildren, Margaux Laflamme of Meredith and Courtney Contigiani of Laconia; a brother, Peter R. Lessard, of Laconia, NH; two sisters, Irene DeNauw of Laconia and Anita Faretra of Concord and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her first husband, Mario R. Contigiani in 1961; by a brother, Rene A. Lessard, in 1969 and by a sister, Cecile Waldron in 2003.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 from 5:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington Street, Lakeport, on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 10:30AM.
Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Tilton, NH on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 2:00PM.
