Laconia-----Lurlyn Elwin Fowler, 83, of 12 Warren Street, Laconia died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Lakes Region General Hospital after a period of failing health.

Lurlyn was born June 15, 1926 in Danbury, N. H., the son of Elwin Clough and Dorothy Fowler Morse. Lurlyn was a lifelong resident of Laconia and attended local schools. He worked at Scott & Williams as a security guard until it closed. He served his country honorably during the Korean War in the Army.

Lurlyn is survived by his loving sister, Vera Pierce, of Laconia, N.H.; four nephews, David Sallies, Jr. and his wife, Lola, of Laconia, N.H. and their children, Kelly and Jeffrey; Peter Sallies and his wife, Kelly, of Meredith, NH and their children, Danielle and Tiffany; Paul Sallies and his daughter, Michelle, of Hebron, N.H. and Scott Sallies of Meredith, N.H.; three nieces, Bonnie Morriss, and her husband, John, of Colorado Springs, CO and their children, Tonya and Nancy; Darlene Ballou and her husband, Ronald, of New Hampton and their children, RJ, Alisha and Amanda; Tammy Belyea and her husband, George, of Plymouth, N. H. and their children, Tammy Ann, Wanda, April and George; a brother-in-law, David Sallies, Sr., of Meredith, N. H. and other family members, Robert and Marjorie Sallies, of Meredith, N. H. and their daughter, Elizabeth, of Washington, D.C. along with many neighbors and friends.

Lurlyn was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Morse, of Laconia; his sister, Katie Sallies, of Meredith, N. H as well as his grandparents, Clarence and Katie Fowler, of Danbury, N.H.

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 11:00AM at Union Cemetery, Academy St., Laconia, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Health and Hospice, Inc., 780 N. Main Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246.
