Robert "Bud" N. Burrows

Center Sandwich-----Robert "Bud" N. Burrows, 69, of 19 Skinner Street died at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon on Thursday, June 26, 2003.

Mr. Burrows was born July 18, 1933 in Center Sandwich, the son of Nathaniel H. and Edrie H. (Gordon) Burrows. Mr. Burrows was a lifetime resident of Center Sandwich and was a 1952 graduate of the Quimby School.

Mr. Burrows served in the U. S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired in 1973 as a Sergeant First Class after serving 22 years. He was recipient of the Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Vietnam Service Medal with two silver and four bronze Service Stars, the Vietnam Campaign medal with 60 Device and the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Burrows was a cemetery trustee for the Town of Center Sandwich for twenty-five years and was Trustee of the Trust Funds for twenty years. He enjoyed researching cemeteries and wrote a book about them. From 1981-1989 Mr. Burrows was the president of the Sandwich Fair Association and was currently serving as vice president; he was a former vice president of the Sandwich Historical Society and was a former Selectman for the Town of Sandwich for seventeen years; a past member of the New Hampshire Solid Waste Council; was on the Sandwich Home Nursing Board of Directors of Visiting Nurse Association of Wolfeboro and Vicinity; a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and the VFW. He was a 7th degree national member of Mount Israel Grange; was a Trustee for the Guy Thompson Memorial Trust and was also a 15-year volunteer for the 4-H.

Survivors include his wife, „Dotty‰ Burrows, of Center Sandwich; three brothers, Donald H. Burrows of Center Sandwich, Leslie H. Burrows of Northglenn, Colorado and Bruce J. Burrows of North Sandwich; a sister, Isabel H. Sinclair, of Bow, NH; 14 nephews and nieces; and 17 great nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles G. Burrows, and by a sister, Pauline B. Peaslee.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service and a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the Methodist Church, Main Street, Ctr. Sandwich, NH. Private burial will be held at the family lot in Rural Cemetery, Center Sandwich.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Guy Thompson Memorial Trust, State Treasurer, State House Annex, Concord, NH 03301, or to the Carroll County 4-H, PO Box 860, Ctr. Ossipee, NH 03814. Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH is in charge of the arrangements.
