Belmont----Miss Mary Margaret Plumer, 98, of 34 Bean Hill Road passed away after a short illness on Thursday, June 5, 2003 at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia. She was born February 19, 1905 in Jefferson, NH, the daughter of Rex L. and Margaret (Weir) Plumer.
Miss Plumer was a life-long resident of NH. She lived many years in the family home in Alexandria, her later life was spent in Concord and with her nephew in Belmont. She spent a lifetime of service starting as a teacher in a one room school in Alexandria in 1922. She worked 26 years for the State at the NH State Prison in Concord and at Plymouth State College. She was also a lifelong volunteer with the Red Cross and a volunteer at several nursing facilities into her 80's. Her personal goal was to be independent and to be helpful to others.
Miss Plumer is survived by her nephew, John R. Plumer, of Belmont and by her cousin, Russell McMullen, from Eliot, Maine. She was predeceased by her brother, C. Robert Plumer, in 1989.
There will be no calling hours.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at 11:00AM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH. Burial will follow in the family lot in Homeland Cemetery, Bristol, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greater White Mountain Chapter-American Red Cross, 21 Lyford Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
