Gilford------Marcel J. St. Gelais, 84, of 9 Sargent Place, Lake Breeze Park #36, died at the Genesis Eldercare Network-Laconia Center on Sunday, June 15, 2003.
Mr. St. Gelais was born November 30, 1918 in Manchester, NH, the son of Delphis and O'Diana (Gagnon) St. Gelais
Mr. St. Gelais served in the U. S. Army for 4.5 years during World War II had been a resident of Gilford for 58 years. He was employed at Scott & Williams for over 25 years, retiring in 1978. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Laconia and was a life member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. St. Gelais was a volunteer at the Lakes Region General Hospital for several years and was an avid fan of the Red Sox.
Survivors include his wife, Mary (Hayward) St. Gelais, of Gilford; three sons, Donald St. Gelais of Sanbornton, Stephen St. Gelais of Simi Valley, CA and Michael St. Gelais of Hampton, NH; two daughters, Linda McGrath of Dunmore, PA and Susan Laurent of Gilford; 8 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Maurice St. Gelais of Manchester, NH and Louis St. Gelais of Laconia, NH; a sister, Genevieve St. Gelais of Manchester, NH and many nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Florian St. Gelais and Lionel St. Gelais.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 from 7:00-9:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia on Thursday, June 19, 2003 at 10:00AM.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia, NH
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
