Laconia------Mrs. Louise D. Greenwood, 85, formerly of 13 Greenwood Drive, Belmont, died at St. Francis Nursing Home on Saturday, June 19, 2004. She was the widow of Clayton Greenwood who died in 1994.
Mrs. Greenwood was born September 10, 1918 in Campton, NH, the daughter of James and Miney (Vose) Dempsey and was a life time resident of the Lakes Region. In 1940, she graduated from the School of Nursing at Elliot Hospital, Manchester. She worked at the Laconia State School & Training Center for several years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Elliot Hospital Alumni and a member of the NH State Employees’ Association.
Mrs. Greenwood was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish, Belmont.
Survivors include a son, James C. Greenwood of Warner, NH; a daughter, Patricia Ann Williams of Belmont, NH; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Towers of Concord, NH and Hazel Wilson of Laconia, NH; and several nephews and nieces. Two nieces, Linda Pestilli of Brownfield, ME and Gloria Cleckler of Bossier City, LA and a nephew, Normand Gendron of Massachusetts lived with Mr. and Mrs. Greenwood for a number of years. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Angie Currier and a grandson, James E Lucas, Jr.
Family calling hours will be held.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Parish, 96 Main Street, Belmont, NH on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at 12:00 Noon.
Private burial will be held in the family lot in South Road Cemetery, Belmont, NH at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph’s Church Building Fund, PO Box 285, Belmont, NH 03220.
