Sanbornton-------Mrs. Nancy L. (Hawkins) Young, 61, of 860 Stage Road, died at her home on Wednesday June 9, 2004.
Mrs. Young was born October 13, 1942 in Laconia, the daughter of Ruth Isabelle and George Hawkins, Sr. She was raised in Laconia and attended Laconia High School and graduated from Portsmouth High School, Portsmouth, in 1960 and still had lasting friendships with many classmates.
Mrs. Young was employed in Portsmouth for the C & L Construction Company and was married 43 years ago in the Pease AFB, Chapel to William H. Young. They lived in Michigan for a number of years, moving back to NH in 1973, settling in Laconia before moving to Sanbornton. She was employed at the Laconia Shoe Company for many years and later was employed at Henry’s Dry Cleaners.
A woman of countless talents, Nancy excelled in all she endeavored. She was a seamstress, crafter and could be found at many craft shows.
Survivors include her husband, William H. Young, of Sanbornton; two daughters, Holly Young of Franklin and Joy and her husband Kelly Brough of Gilmanton Iron Works; her mother Ruth Sanborn of Rye, her father George Hawkins, Sr. of Laconia; a half brother George Hawkins, Jr. of Laconia; 4 half sisters Donna Thrippleton of Alton, Cathy Hammare of Ashland, Robin Hendrickx of Laconia and Susan Record of Rye; a step-brother Harry Sanborn; many nephews and nieces.
Calling Hours will be held at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia Monday June 14, 2004 from 6-9 PM using the Carriage House entrance.
A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home, Tuesday at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Greater White Mountain Chapter, American Red Cross, 21 Lyford Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
