John H. Lyman

Gilford----John H. Lyman, 78, of 310 Hoyt Road, died Monday, June 20, 2005 at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia.

Mr. Lyman was born November 27, 1926 in Belmont, NH, the son of Charles H. and Marie (Poire) Lyman. Mr. Lyman served in the U. S. Marine Corps. In 1948, he founded John H. Lyman & Sons, Inc. and was owner until his retirement in June, 2005. Mr. Lyman was a semi-pro baseball player and tried out with the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed playing tennis, camping, and sled dog racing with the Flying Irish Setters. He was past president and member of the Lakes Region Sled Dog Club, trail builder for the World Championship. Mr. Lyman was a member of The American Legion, Wilkins-Smith Post #1, Laconia.

Survivors include his wife, M. Patricia (Barrett) Lyman; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Liz Lyman and Jim and Diane Lyman and a daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” Winn, all of Gilford; eight grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Patty, Jay, Patrick, Megan, Jennifer and Keith and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Charles Lyman and William “Bill” Lyman and by four sisters, Barbara Hubbard, Caroline Dube, Thelma Fletcher and Mary Walsh.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2005 from 2:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 24, 2005 at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, NH by Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the Church. Burial will follow in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia, NH

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lakes Region Sled Dog Club, PO Box 382, Laconia, NH 03247.

Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH is in charge of the arrangements.
