Laconia-----Gertrude R. Dow, 92, of 20 Baldwin St., died at Genesis Eldercare Center, on Sunday, June 21, 2009. Mrs. Dow was the widow of Charles Dow who died in 1977.
Gertrude was born November 18, 1916 in Laconia, the daughter of Amedee and Laura (Lefebvre) Cloutier. She was a longtime resident of Epping and Laconia. She was employed at the National Shoe & Leather Co., for twenty years retiring from the McCallen Co. in Newmarket
Gertrude loved working in her gardens and animals. She had a great love for her beloved dog POOCH. Gertrude’s independence inspired all who knew and loved her. At the age of 88, she took pride in living independently being able to shovel her driveway and mow her lawn.
Gertrude is survived by a sister: Irene Legassie, of Sanbornton, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Dow was predeceased by brothers Antonio and Lionel Cloutier, a sister Jeanette Fontaine.
A calling hour will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 10:00AM at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH 03246 using the carriage house entrance.
A Funeral service will be held following the calling hour at 11:00AM also at the funeral home.
Burial will be held at the family lot in Village Cemetery, New Hampton, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to NH Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247.
