Gilford, NH----Bridget E. Hughes, 14, of 48 David Lewis Road, died on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bridget was born March 22, 1989 in Gilmanton, NH the daughter of Charlie & Tess ( McGuire) Hughes. She moved from Gilmanton to Gilford two years ago and was a member of the Freshman Class at Gilford High School. Bridget was a former member of the Wavemakers, was a member of the Kool Kids Organization and was an ambassador for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She took lessons at Eastern Dragon Karate in Belmont and was an avid rock climber. Bridget enjoyed rock climbing at the Plymouth Rock Barn and the outdoor cliffs in Rumney. While a student at the Gilmanton Elementary School, Bridget was a member of the chorus, and a member of the soccer and track & field teams.

Survivors include her parents, Charlie and Tess (McGuire) Hughes, of Gilford; three brothers, Mack Hughes and Michael Hughes both of Gilford and Buddy Frost of Canaan, VT; two sisters, Katherine Hughes of London, England and Christine Frost of Canaan, VT; her Godparents, John & Ellen Hughes of Westbury, Long Island, NY and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2004 from 6:00-9:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 5, 2004 at 10:00AM at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, NH. Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the church, will be the celebrant.

Spring burial will be in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford, NH.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire, 66 Hanover Street Suite #101, Manchester, NH 03101-2230
