Laconia---George G. Cantin, 77 of 29 Cedar Street, Laconia, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital Sunday evening March 14, 2004 after a sudden illness.
Mr. Cantin was born March 20, 1926 in Laconia, the son of the late J. Willie and Elizabeth (Laramie) Cantin. He was a life long resident of Laconia. He graduated from Laconia High School in 1944. He attended Northeastern and graduated from Vesper George School of Art in Boston.
Mr. Cantin owned and operated Cantin Dance Studio in Lakeport for many years and also had a dance studio in Sanford, Maine for a number of years.
Mr. Cantin was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a life member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks #876 and also a life member of the Dance Masters of New England.
Survivors include his brother Eddie A. Cantin of Gilford; 1 nephew Thomas Cantin of Gilford; 3 nieces Colleen Madden of Woolwich, Maine; Amy Cohen of Londonderry, NH and Elizabeth Mardany of Matthews, N.C.; 10 grandnephews and grandnieces.
Calling hours will be held on Friday March 19, 2004 from 10:30AM-11:30 AM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in Sacred Heart Church, at 12:00 Noon. The Rev. Adrien Longchamps pastor of the church will officiate.
Spring burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Holy Trinity School, 50 Church Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
