Donald I. Hamilton, Sr.

Laconia---Donald I. Hamilton, Sr. 69 of 25 Union Ave. Apt. 510, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Friday March 19, 2004.

Mr. Hamilton was born December 6, 1934 in Belmont, the son of Eugene and Evelyn (Clairmont) Hamilton. He had been a resident of Laconia for the past 10 years. He had formerly lived in Gilford, Rumney and Belmont. He had served in the New Hampshire National Guard. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish, Belmont.

Mr. Hamilton had been employed at Scott & Williams for many years. He had also worked for a number of construction companies and Contract Support Group in Belmont.

Mr. Hamilton was a Captain on the Belmont Volunteer Fire Dept. and was also a Forest Fire Warden for the town. He was one of the first volunteers of the Belmont Rescue Squad and also a volunteer for the Belmont Police Dept.

Mr. Hamilton was a former member of the Plymouth Lodge of Elks and the NRA.

Survivors include his wife Barbara J. (Gleason) Hamilton of Laconia; 2 sons Donald I. Hamilton, Jr. of Wagner, S.C., Michael E. Hamilton of Center Harbor; a daughter Barbara "Sue" Hamilton of Canaan, NH; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers Clement Hamilton of Sarasota, Fla. and Wilfred Hamilton of Gilford; many nephews and nieces. Beside his parents in was predeceased by a daughter Bonnie J. Pelletier who died in 1996.

There are no calling hours.

A private graveside service will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery later this spring.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
