George H. "Cy" Philbrook

Laconia----George H. "Cy" Philbrook, 84, of 114 Blueberry Lane, died at the St. Francis Home, Friday March 19, 2004.

Mr. Philbrook was born July 4, 1919 in Laconia, the son of the late Percy W. and Marjorie (Osgood) Philbrook. He was a life long resident of the Lakes Region.

Mr. Philbrook graduated from Laconia High School in 1937. He attended Kimball Union in 1938 and 1939 and Bryant Straten in 1940 and 1941. He served in the US Army Air Force from 1942-1945 and was in the European Theatre.

Mr. Philbrook was employed at Scott & Williams and late at Aavid Thermalloy, LLC retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Scott & Williams.

Mr. Philbrook was a long time member of the Laconia Congregation Church and was a member of the Diaconate and also a member of the Friendship Club. He was a Mason.

Mr. Philbrook was a volunteer at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Lakes Region Community Health & Hospice and was also a volunteer at the St. Francis Home from 1986-1995 and was award Volunteer of the Year in 1995.

Survivors include his wife Barbara (Smith) Philbrook of Laconia; 2 sons Peter Philbrook and Scott Philbrook both of Martinsville, VA.; a daughter Nancy J. Holland of Nags Head, N.C.; 5 grandchildren Jennifer Boudreau, Rebecca Holland, Joel Philbrook, Jared Philbrook and Caleb Philbrook; 2 great-grandchildren and nieces. Beside his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Lillias (Watson) Philbrook who died in 1979.

According to Mr. Philbrook's wishes there are no calling hours or funeral services. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Lillias Watson Philbrook Nursing Scholarship c/o Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation POBox 7312, Gilford, NH 03247-7312 or the charity of one&Mac226;s choice.

The Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia is in charge of the arrangements.
