Laconia------------William A. Schmalberger, 87, of 51 Leigh Court, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Friday, March 3, 2006.
Mr. Schmalberger was born February 8, 1919 in Union City, New Jersey, the son of the late Adolph W. and Christine (Freuh) Schmalberger.
He was raised in New Jersey and was a graduate of Seton Hall University, South Orange, New Jersey. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. Mr. Schmalberger lived in Davie, Florida for several years before moving to Laconia twenty years ago. Mr. Schmalberger was an accomplished businessman. At the time of his death, he was President of Johnson Supply Company.
Mr. Schmalberger was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, Meredith Center, NH.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Florence M. (Miller) Schmalberger, of Laconia; three daughters, Lynda Schmalberger of Laconia, Patricia Dietz of Laconia and Donna Schmalberger of Denver, CO; six grandchildren, Anna, Carrie, Amanda and Scott Dietz, Maxwell Lichtenstein and Vaughn Moore; two brothers, Donald Schmalberger and David Schmalberger; four nieces and four nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at 3:30 PM using the Carriage House entrance.
Spring Burial will be held at the family lot in Oakland Cemetery, Meredith, NH.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246 or to the Meredith Center Free Will Baptist Church, PO Box 336, Meredith, NH 03253.
