Meredith-------Eleanor M. (McDonnell) Smethurst, 90, of 153 Parade Road, died at the Forestview Manor on Friday, March 17, 2006. She was the widow of Harold Smethurst who died in 1998.
Mrs. Smethurst was born March 22, 1915 in Woonsocket, RI, the daughter of Ambrose and Ellen (Holmes) McDonnell.
Mrs. Smethurst was a long time resident of West Alton. She was a volunteer at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia for a number of years.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert H. and Nancy Smethurst of Wilmington, MA and Richard H. and Shelley Smethurst of Plymouth, MA; a daughter and a son-in-law, E. Jeanne and Ed Brodmerkle of Sterling, MA; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren and two nieces. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert McDonnell.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Forestview Manor Sunshine Fund, 153 Parade Road, Meredith, NH 03253 or to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
